The Family Dispute Resolution Process

Family disputes may involve any one of a range of legal issues. These may include property disputes, family law matters such as child custody, property settlements or a range of complex, interrelated problems.

The family lawyers at Clive Mills & Associates offer a range of dispute resolution services for families to solve these problems. Our family law mediators in St Leonards, on the lower North Shore of Sydney, can help you to resolve disputes without the added cost of court appearances.

The Dispute Resolution Process

The dispute resolution process can deliver practical solutions for families, even in difficult matters.

There are 3 parts to the process:

1. Gathering Initial Information

Clive or a member of our staff will contact you by phone and obtain some basic details.

2. Pre-Mediation Meeting

A pre-mediation meeting will then be held by a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner. The Mediator will meet with each party for approximately 1-1.5 hours per party to obtain further relevant information.

The Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner will then decide whether or not the matter is appropriate to proceed to a mediation session.

3. The Mediation

Mediation will take place at an agreed venue and will be attended by both of you and 2 mediators.

The mediation will last up to 3 hours.

The total cost of the mediation process, to be shared by both parties, should not exceed $2,000 plus GST in most cases.
